Consumer Resources
It’s important to know your rights and responsibilities, and be aware of rules regarding cremation and other funeral services, highly regulated industries.
Each state, for instance, has its own cremation laws and guidelines for requesting a death certificate. If you’re traveling with cremated remains, certain rules may apply.
Where To Get Assistance
If you have issues, concerns, or are dissatisfied, first try contacting the funeral home that provided the services. If you cannot resolve the matter with the funeral home, you can contact one of these national funeral associations. There are several other organizations that may be able to help you:
- The Funeral Consumers Alliance
- The National Funeral Directors Association
- The Funeral Ethics Organization
- International Cemetery, Cremation, and Funeral Association Complaint Resolution Service
